Ice Fishing
If you enjoy ice fishing, you'll love fishing in our winter wonderland! Pick a beautiful sunny day, head out to a frozen lake or reservoir, drill a hole and drop in a line, with the hope of pulling out a large trout. Bring food and drink, maybe even a portable grill, and make a day of it!
Fishing licenses and regulations, as well as bait and gear, are available at local sporting goods stores and fishing shops. Please pay special attention to winter ice fishing regulations pertaining to the lake where you plan to fish. If you're unfamiliar with the current lake conditions, ask someone who is knowledgeable about the current status.
Due to wind and fluctuations of temperatures, ice may be unstable. Watch for and avoid lake overflow, wet areas and open water. We advise that you use caution as you approach the ice. Motorized vehicles are not recommended for most ponds and lakes. As with any outdoor recreation, go with a buddy when planning to ice fish on frozen lakes, and let someone else know where you are going and when you expect to return.
