In fact, it has become one of the state's leading vacation hot spots in the winter, situated between West Yellowstone and Bozeman, just a short drive from Yellowstone National Park. Its scenery is as breathtaking as the park itself and with continuous blue skies and an abundance of snow, the Big Sky Resort is truly a skier's paradise.

What happens when blue skies, rugged mountains, chutes and open terrain are combined in a winter wonderland? The Big Sky Resort in Montana is all these things and more. The adventures go well beyond skiing, though skiing is one of the main draws for the millions of visitors that grace its over four thousand feet of vertical skiing slopes. As one of the countries tip vacation destinations, it is not difficult to see why this paradise is a tourist haven.

The main summit is called Lone Peak, rising some eleven thousand feet above sea level, towering above two base areas, Lone Moose (6,800 ft.) and Mountain Village (7,500 ft.). The peak is divided into more than eighty five miles of skiing, covering a total of three different mountains with one hundred and fifty runs. Slopes are divided into difficulties according to international standards, including beginner (14%), intermediate (26%), advanced (40%) and expert (20%). In fact, the longest vertical drop is 4, 350 feet, with the longest run being six miles from Liberty Bowl to the Mountain Mall. Average temperatures provide daily consistency that is perfect for skiing conditions, sitting around twenty degrees Fahrenheit with an average snowfall annually of more than four hundred inches. Every hour alone twenty five thousand skiers are lifted up the mountain sides from the time the ski season starts in November to its closure in the middle of April.
