West Yellowstone, Montana
West Yellowstone sits adjacent to the west entrance of Yellowstone and is the most traveled entrance into the Park. The area is affectionately known as the snowmobile capital of the world in winter, and the fly fishing capital of the West in summer.
Accessed by Highways 191 and 287 to the north and west, and US Hwy. 20 (through Island Park, Idaho) to the south, West Yellowstone is a superb base of operations for hiking, fishing, photography, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, and wildlife viewing.
Hosting a variety of both summer and winter events unique to the areas recreational assets, West Yellowstone enjoys abundant snowfall in winter, and warm, comfortable summer days and cool evenings. While visiting, make sure to see the many stores, museums and wildlife exhibits on display.
