Jackson Hole, Wyoming, is the home of the championship competition at the Snow King Resort called the Jackson Hole Snowmobile Hill Climb. It offers a winter wonderland of pristine white and snow-covered hillsides with all the adventure and beauty that one would expect of the northern part of Wyoming State. However, this is not for the faint of heart as this gruelling race is hard to compare to anything else. It draws in spectators and enthusiasts from across the planet.

What does Jackson Hole and Snow King Resort have in common besides the obvious? Try the Jackson Hole Snowmobile Hill Climb, a challenging, dangerous and exciting race for championship grade status and prize money galore. Set against the backdrop of incredible mountains views and clean blue skies, this race is a magnet for winter sports enthusiasts of all types and a great day out for families with kids.

The race is held every March in Jackson Hole and has been running for some thirty three years. The event is hosted by the local Jackson Hole Snow Devils, the organizers that promise annual adventures, with each year being better than the last one. Crowds flood the town to see the huge machines and specially made snowmobiles make the struggle and attempt to climb some fifteen hundred feet of vertical rise up the mountain called the Snow King, just above the Snow King Resort.

A great deal of planning is involved for this event to please both spectators and racers. As always the event is televised globally. Concession stands take over the usual thoroughfares with beers and food, as well as local merchandise and event souvenirs. The vendors from nearby stores will also join the throng, offering even samples to nibble on. However, there is always an ample supply of hot chocolate and coffee on hand for everyone.

The event draws in about ten thousand people annually for this 4-day race. The local resort offers excellent accommodation and reduced prices during this race to allow for as many visitors as is possible. Local nightlife and restaurants come to life with live music and food and shopping galore. However, it is advisable to book accommodation early in the year as the event fills every hotel and motel to capacity without fail.

Event coordinators advise that spectators come prepared as the winter weather is unpredictable and can change without warning. They recommend the following for the four days of events, including lawn chairs, sunglasses, gloves, snow boots, lots of spending money, binoculars, photo ID and a medical card just in case. Be aware that there are no ATM machines on the race site and credit cards are not accepted close to the hill. Snow Devil members regularly check drinkers for ID to prove legal age for consuming alcohol and fines can be handed out to those who break the law. Also be aware that no beer or other alcohol is allowed to be brought into the site and anything found will be confiscated. Dogs are also prohibited. Most importantly, security measures are high and police are on constant patrol to keep the days flowing peacefully.
