Jackson Hole Snow Cross
The Annual Jackson Hole Snowcross Races are designed for the snowmobile enthusiasts and those who love to watch. Jackson Hole, Wyoming attracts thousands of interested participants and spectators every year t this one of many wintertime events that the town hosts. It is an open race that is fun-filled for both racers and people with families. In fact, out of all the snowcross races in the Rocky Mountain region, it is the one that most look forward to, mainly because the riders are professionals who are out to win this prestigious championship.
It is no surprise that the riders of the snowmobiles in Jackson Hole, Wyoming's Annual Jackson Hole Snowcross Races are eager to throttle ahead and way more aggressive than the average driver. This is a championship race that requires skill and determination, something all of its competitors have a lot of. However, not everyone is a professional snowmobiler. There are multiple levels of riding classes, including, semi-professional, professional, junior novice, junior, masters sport, women sport and sport.
The race is sponsored by the Jackson Elks. All money raised is used for varied charities that the Elks support.
The race begins at the Snow King Mountain rodeo grounds. Parking is completely free, though it is advised that visitors arrive early to avoid the crowds and get a place. In fact, this is a family event with warm drinks and food available from the many resort restaurants, cafes and stores. However, getting a quick snack does not mean missing the race as the race start and finish is in the town center, right by all the shops and eateries.
Two days of adventures begin on the Saturday. The Saturday is the qualifier's day where racers attempt to qualify for Sunday's final races and the coveted trophies and money prizes. There are two options for racers on the qualifying day, a means to gather needed points. Poor finishers in the first race can redeem points by finishing with a better ranking in the following race. In fact, the real test is that of skill, carefully attended to by the creation of the course by course organizers.
There are also other competitions related to Jackson Hole Snow Cross Races, including a long jump competition. Also, nearby Calcutta where the finals take place is also the best spot to lay a bet on favourite drivers.
The finals are held at the end of February, regardless of a blizzard or rainfall. However, if snow conditions are too dangerous or there is not enough snow cancellations will be made and alternate dates arranged.
